My air con stopped working ages ago but with the weather we get I don't think I'll need it re-charging anytime soon
I'm only trying to put the OP in the mindset of a qualified air con guy.
As stated above the bottles sold at Halfords ect are going to be illegal in the near future due to health and safety regulations.
As for the amount of oil, you need to ask the manufacturer for the specified amount.
As for putting the oil in, I was told not to insert oil via the machine for compressors as the takes time for the oil to work it's way around and fill the compressor to the desired amount can take top long and burn it out.
Going back to the OPs original post, I have noted that no one has mentioned that Pag oil is extremely hygroscopic. Personally, whenever I have to change a compressor I empty the oil that comes with it and fill it with fresh new stuff. Usually the amount you need is stamped on the compressor. Remember the oil you put in the compressor doesn't just sit there like a car it gets mixed with the gas so remember to turn the compressor over a few times by hand before vacuuming the system.
Hi, PAG is very hygroscopic POE less so. It's nothing like compressor oil. In fact aircon compressors are more like pumps because it's a closed system.
