Thanks, but as my teachers used to say "at least you've got plenty of room for improvement", which I mistakenly took as a positive
I've just had a look at the pics on here (a desktop at work as opposed to my smartphone) and it's quite fitting the the colour is orange (peel city
), but it gives me something to work with. In my defence, the orange is quite dark to the naked eye up close in the confines of the engine bay and without the aid of the camera flash.

I decided to tackle the bumpers next (don’t ask me why). The rear is an original as it came in mottled black plastic notorious for going charcoal in colour, so the plan is to smooth it, colour in gloss black with orange along the top to match the car.
The front is a second hand damaged aftermarket spoiler, needing attention. It has already been the subject of some repairs in the past, but it was €70 in keeping with my budget theme. A new aftermarket one is about 300, or about €1k for the genuine Toyota article
Above shows the missing lower lip and below are my efforts to rebuild it. Other cracks and breaks were repaired with matting on the back and stranded filler on the front. Afterwards I’ll mask off the top (bumper) portion and set about filling/recreating the spoiler
Above is the rear; epoxy primer, guide coat & flatted with 180. Then filler repairs and 2 x high build epoxy…
Next step guide coat and flat 320 and then 400 & possibly 600(?) before top coat??

Do you add a flexible additive to the primer/paint?

I wasn't going to, although I've given both bumpers a coat of plastic primer before going to epoxy primer

Now, while I was attacking preparing the grp bonnet for painting ep-guide coat, filler etc. it seemed like a good idea to tackle the cracked dashboard during my filler-curing downtime:
1st step, bevelled out all of the cracks using the power file…
… filled them with glass fibre filler to just below the surface (a messy business)
The clamps were intended to help straighten where the heat had caused the dash to swell. Not entirely (un)successful
Fur the surface I used bumpersoft filler, leftover from my smart medic days 20 odd years ago. It and the glass fibre filler have faired surprisingly well ….. the Upol flexisoft not so well as it’s dried out a fair bit and doesn’t spread very nicely.
Et Voila! Cracks be gone!!! (erm, texture also gone). Just to either hit it with some textured paint or flock it. Any opinions?

This is a piece of the boot lid that I removed as it had been previously drilled, and the captive nuts still had the remnants of some bolts.
…. here we see the rot had begun..

I’m a bit rusty at the welding, so I dressed them before taking the pic
