Hi Guys

Just thought I'd say a HUGE thank you to all for the advice on " removing the rubber sheath" on my tig torch lead the other week.. I finally got around to doing it this morning.. And I really couldn't believe it! I was really thinking this ain't gonna make any difference as I began removing it ! A couple of mins later! WoW! So much lighter, feels half the weight now.. For now I've put a couple of cable ties around the two leads but I will get a light weight cover for it soon..

Very good cover in my view are the black nylon ones from Ebay. More flexible and lighter than leather as well as cheaper. Only downside is you have to be careful of putting down on anything hot. CK leather are probably about the best, but very costly...................

Well to be fair I'm still trying my best and Richard has kindly offered to look at it, but, when he's free, I'm at work and when I'm free, you've guessed it! He's tired up.. I hope we will get something sorted soon as I'm looking at Forum videos etc and what I'm getting is nothing like I'm seeing.. That's since I purchased and that's nearly two years ago now..

No it's a leather sheath supplied for the the ck Tig torches. It's not a ck sheath, it's a sheath ck suppliers use if requested. They are very good.

Dont you have a LWS who can check your machine? I looked at someones machine who had been struggling for a year trying to weld, and it turned out the set was faulty.

Hell that is dear. The one I got also from rapid was a nice leather sheath but wasn't ck it was another brand. Very nice mind and a good snug fit. Was about £20 iirc.

The CK ones (black with velcro closure) are much better quality than the Weldas (brown with zip closure) that Rapid also sell. Would have preferred CK for the Flex Loc, but too much money, so got a cheap nylon one from Ebay, which is more flexible and lighter than the cheaper leather ones.

Found them. Black leather ck sheath and yes they are a fortune. The one I got is really good also. Very snug fitting around the cables which I like. Glad rapid didn't quote me for for that I would of fallen over. The weldtec sheath is quite nice but quite baggy which I'm not as drawn to. This one I've got wasn't too dear and very light. Id not want a nylon one alone as knowing me I'd burn it and that's an expensive mistake.

Id do the same but perhaps look at more resistant material than nylon. Those flex locks are serious money surely a leather sheath would protect it better than nylon. Are you sure it's not Kevlar? Nylon seems a bad material for welding hose protection.

I guess there should be someone around here mate but none I know of.. It went back to Elmdale once before as you know, I spoke with them again the other day regarding it and purchasing some new tig rods and gas, I have to say I was really disappointed with the response, which was a first, they said.. " this welding lark really isn't for you is it"
Yes chances are it could be me, as yet I don't know, but, the comment at first, knocked me back, however now, I'm more determined than ever to prove him wrong.. X

Thats a good idea. CK one for 25ft torch is £70............
