Well I agree that's a kind offer and he can also do the same and send it to me if he so wishes. So lots of offers on the table. He's also welcome to bring it round to me also and I can help him with any other tig related problems/questions he may have. At least if his machine is broken I can help get some lost confidence back by letting him have a go with my unit.

Maybe OP would have been up and running a lot quicker if machine properly checked much earlier? He obviously doesnt have a good LWS, so very difficult to work out whether or not machine issues are cause of problems.

Tbh I just feel sick inside at the mo.. I did the correct thing by insisting it went back to the supplier obv they didn't do their job and return it to ESAB.. They must be P.....G theirselves on the amount of gas, tungstens and ceramics I've used in the last two years.. My ceramics have always looked liked they have been nuked..

I just thought the high gas use was down to my practicing and prob getting it wrong..

The time is obv lost for good rapidly followed by my confidence along with my well being..

I initially had lessons with two v good instructors ( that's not disrespecting anyone else, it's just I don't get out much) both, said, "MTe your fine I can't believe you've not welded before " so there must have been some potential there"

We all know where it's gone from there...

Wonder whether or not putting welder into a box and shipping it to a forum member able to check whether its working properly or not, might be a better idea than carrying on as is?

I dont think he wants to do that or he would have done so by now. Plus shipping means a dry joint or similar might be partly rectified the way the couriers chuck things around.

Taking it with him to Richards will mean he can try welding on Richards unit and vice versa. A better option IMHO.

Up to OP, but seems to me he has spent quite a bit of money already and not got far. If the machine is faulty then maybe he is going to have to think about repair or replacement, rather than travelling around the country for welding tuition?

I just found out esab welders have a 3 year warranty .. Have written to my supplier today awaiting reply.. X

Thats good news................hopefully before long you will be up and running then! ESAB dont have a UK repair facility now though, and if it is still under warranty and bearing in mind your experience with LWS, you might be better sending it to a repair shop recommended by ESAB themselves?

The one at the top looks like a fine bead, especially towards the left hand side... Obviously the gas leak was the issue
