i still like the hammer lift version could build it if i wanted to do but ive got no car so need for it even though i have most of the materials now except for the jacks

For those who don't have one of those low level trolleys I use a nice big piece of cardboard when replacing the brake lines on the car and sliding in/out was loads easier than working my way in on block paving. Secondary benifit it stopped the brake fluid from making marks on the drive as well

ive taken a picture of these ramps that a friend has in his garage the size for these is about 4ft x 1ft stacked against a wall all made from angle iron

Nice! I've decided to go with a "jack in a box" wheel stand with a removable lead-on ramp. This is partly due to the fact i recently gained another car and the front spoiler is so low i had to make a pair of 3' lead-on ramps to get onto some standard ramps.
As such i would have two lead-on ramps with no other use except using them on a normal pair of ramps but still unable to get the car up high enough.

Hi Ashley..the parts of the ramps that were supposed to be telescopic were getting jammed due to welding distortion I got to the 'can't be bothered anymore' stage and bought a 2nd hand pair of the C J Autos adjustable ramps. These are great and do the job well but are really too heavy for me to hump around.

I am almost at the age when I may leave oil changes to someone else and sell the ramps on ...... but 'my ramps' will sadly never be finished now

I used to borrow a lovely set of ramps off a mate of mine but he had them nicked one day,

They were stupidly heavy - he even had lorries up on them. Basically it was a long ramp - about 6 feet long - which was removable from the upright part. The uprights were about 2 feet high so you could get under easily. Such a gentle slope you could get any sports car up them.

This of any interest/use to anyone? A chap on another forum bought one and was very impressed. Shouldn't be too difficult for a welder to copy......

i made a bar with a hook on each end which fitted in the trolley jack between the front axle and under side of the lifting pad. jack up, fit bar, release, locked

sorry never took any and no longer got tool its just a bit of box section bar with a slot in each end. it fitted between the front axle and pivot pin on the underside of the lifting pad with just enough clearance with jack it full height, then releasing the pressure allowed the jack to drop holding the bar firmly in place
