I'm thinking of building a pair of these ramps. I won't be using them very often but I do my own oil changes and simple (ish) jobs on my BMW and the wifes Yaris. At the moment I use two trolley jacks and run between each side as I lift the cars bit by bit and then use axle stands for safety. I find this a chore but the bumper on my car is so low there's no way I can use 'normal' ramps....plus my tyres are 225 and 255 so the ramps need to be wide.
Couple of questions. I have a lot of new 30mm x 30mm x 3mm and 25mm x 25mm x 3mm angle - I would use this for the ramps and 'chassis'. I have some 30mm x 5mm for the upright bits that move. I plan to use 2mm plate over upturned angle for the wheel 'base' and two 2 ton scissor jacks for the lifting bit - I have an air driven gun to make jacking less of a chore and will incorporate some sort of safety feature in case of jack failure.
Anyone built something like this or can give any hints (other than take the cars to get serviced!!) on building a pair? I do have my plasma cnc to make 'special parts' if necessary.

I bought a second hand set then quickly sold them on. I used them once to lift a Mk4 golf off the ground. They were pretty unstable, and getting the lift started when the scissor was closed took hell of a lot of umphh....... hydraulics are the way to go......
