Don't worry, the wall had been left in this unfinished state for a long time, hence the moss! You're not the only one with many unfinished projects.

If its to lay bloack or brick on just brush it off, for anything treat it. I have loads of the stuff, different types and colours, Japanese would love it. Iron Suphate, it kills moss in minutes. Don't bother with the commercial stuff that has claims of magical powers, just straight up cheapo iron sulphate is your friend.

I had a look on eBay and found some with this funny disclaimer at the bottom of the listing.

Due to recent changes in the law, products which contain ferrous sulphate can no longer be claimed to have control against moss. This is because any product which 'controls' moss is now classed as a herbicide, and this requires the product to have an expensive and complex approval. Due to this, we are unable to claim that this product will control moss; In spite of the fact that the product formulation has not changed since when it was used to control moss with very good results**

I have used iron sulphate to kill lawn moss, but I wouldn't be putting it on a block wall or patio due to the risk of staining.

had a rep come to work i did ask the question im assuming its not good on moss as its not listed he said the same too much money to have it listed because of a change in the rules and regs but he said it still works on it and well but cant list it as such

Wet & Forget gets really good reviews.

I use wet & forget for my patio, until I couldn't find it one day. Looked everywhere and then I found the empty gallon can in the back on my van.

The farming world is slowly losing some of its best products for this very reason.
Believe the chemicals need to go through a safety testing process every few years and if the cost of testing is too much compared to the quantity sold then the manufacturer just doesn't bother renewing the licence and stops making the product. Iron sulphate will have other uses including medical so still manufactured.

Irony of it is the next best product often has very limited results so has to be applied at extremely high levels too have a limited affect but spreading even more active ingredients than the original product that was often perfectly safe.
