I would not use anything other than Kunifer for new lines. Ive seen copper lines go all green and corroded here too. Steel - zinc or not is a no no for me. It is cheap & keeps its shape well for prefabricaiton hence why car manufacturers still use it. But ferrous lines in our climate have a limited life especially for a classic car you intend to keep.

yes Ive been liking the benders with rollers, dont ask why, i think i have a bit of fathers ocd buy a tool and make it last for ever lol.

So what type of Kunifer do you use, :confused:

Probably, some bends a little bit easier than other but makes no real difference in the long run, personally I wouldn't use straight 100% copper pipe as this apparently work hardens over the years and can crack.

I've found some steel pipe bends easier than the Cunifer/Kunifer type, but for the aggro/cost saving its not worth doing the job again.

I keep a reels of 3/16 & 1/4 pipe, and kit boxes of general pipe unions on the shelf, but connection fittings/joiners can be more problematic at times.

Kunifer is my favourite for replacing steel pipes. It's named after it's components, copper, nickel and iron (ferric) and bends easily enough usually without kinking. When I used to do a lot of car stuff it was always referred to as Kunifer 10 but I've not heard it called that for a few years.

Go for the £15 one that looks like Kunifer alright and is a good price for it.

It said Kunifer10 and some blurb about it, it was a proprietary name.
It also said on it, or the packaging, CuNiFe and it was pretty clear why
it had the suffix 10. It was 10% nickel.
I think we only bought kunifer10, then overnight the price went from less than a fiver
a roll to about£18 a roll.
That would be around 1980.

Bundy was more expensive than copper.

Just looked it up and found a matchbook cover.

Posting this as it might help others. I have been looking for a bender that does tight bends and Ive bought on of these it is only a cheep one at £8.99 it bends 3 sizes I needed it for the steel 3/16th that I’m doing, it bend tidy in my limited opinion, cant say how long it will last but it’ll tide me over till better come along. The 2p coin is there for scale.
