Surprising how many 'latent' bumpkins there are on this site innit?

Well done for using the tractor as wedding transport Snowy - I'll dig out a photo of mine tonight if I get a minute (yes, I did the same).

I wanted a tractor for our wedding (a grey Fergy) but as we got married in november in scotland the wife muttered about hair and ordered a vintage bently

yea, got stuck behind a field marshal once when on the international, it was only going about 7mph and i got covered in the black stuff!

Shame about the job losses at JCB, a couple of my friends have scholarships with them, not a good time!

I don't think they're going to move abroad as they've only just built their new factories (think they have 9 now??)
Well i suppose it would be even worse if the whole company went under, but that won't help those who've just lost their jobs!

Dont forget all these manufacturers have trade agreements anyway, So JCBS 3 ton minidigers are made by someone else but painted in JCB colours, but that might be because Hyundai want to sell there 3CX backhoes in there livery etc etc etc the list goes on.. so a shift in one sector can cause job losses in any country its not always about cost cutting, just one plant isn't nessarly making whats selling.

Hmm. It's a pity that JCB should possibly suffer as a result of dumb stuff happening in other businesses.
I've been made redundant once in my working life and I didn't enjoy it.

Trouble is, when you make skilled people redundant, they aren't necessarily going to be there when business picks up again.
Too many cycles like that and the country loses another skill base.

Construction trade tho unfortunately bill, always has been a bit boom and bust, although IMHO having people believe there house is a cash pot has not helped the cause this time round...

Manitou who's trade was something like 60% construction also reported a similar downturn....

The biggest problem I always think with cut backs is the smaller suppliers that are often the first to go, someone making an Assembly for JCB finds it very hard to replace that business.

hey I see the the paint rep every other week (me on shift) who supplies JCB will ask him if he knows what happening ! He did mention in passsing about layoffs also komatsu (spelling correct ??) down to a 3 day week .
