Isn’t that why they are looking at hydrogen for larger vehicles though? As an ex London bus driver, I have some experience of electric bus operation.
Diesel double deck bus on road for 19 hours every weekday - goes out and stays out.
Electric single deck bus does 4 1/2 hours then back in to recharge.
DD passes the garage all day on a hilly 1 1/2 to 2 hour round trip.
SD terminates at the garage on a 1 hour flat round trip.
Less hassle and stress for the DD driver.
Also company has to employ somebody to ensure the SD's could access the chargers and to keep swapping them around so that buses would go out on time and have enough charge to complete the round trip, and of course find replacement diesels when needed (quite often).
I'm not anti EV, give me one tomorrow and pay for the fitment of a decent EV point and I'll drive it. I cannot afford to change my car, when what I've got is paid for. Especially as I took early retirement, due to poor health.
