A good selective weed killer?

Its still sat in the tack room waiting to be used on docks and ragworts in the field when I get a minute a couple of years later

@slim_boy_fat it did the job perfectly... for about half an hour. Its probably made for a 6 stone pensioner to pull the odd dandelion. Resorted to a fork which was just as effective. 2 full barrows of ragwort later and topped all the paddock with the strimmer. Ive earned tonights beer

I've had to reinforce mine, replace the pivots with cap heads, and pin the handle back on - it now works quite well.

The buttercups are caused by acidic soil. You could get a soil sample done and theyll tell you what to do to improve the grass. Probably lime, but there are other methods too. Think Im going to have to invest some money in our fields. Were developing a fair few buttercups too.

I find topping with a flail mower helps a lot.

Its quite possibly acidic. Not much topsoil sat on clay.

I’ve bought some Weedol, which I shall apply soon. Rain is forecast all night tonight, so I’ll leave it until tomorrow.

Tried the salt and vinegar recipe on the block paving. I can vouch that within 2 days its killed trefoil plantain, moss, and grass. Well impressed. Meanwhile the other paddock has been strimmed. Might ask the yard owner if she will buy me a little grey fergie with a mower attachment, Im ********

ive been round and done the pebble drive and all round the field and borders using gallup i bought recomended by a member on here its 28 quid a gallon delivered a real good price and i got some sbk for the nettles dockings and brambles that was 24 quid . both go a long way in the knapsack sprayer and its dropped the lot after 2 weeks . well pleased

just remembered it was premmington that gave the link to the weedkiller id been paying 20 quid for a poxy little bottle before i got the link . i dont mind paying but it was costing a fortune for the aeria i have to cover twice a year

Quite bizzare to go buy gallon containers you need a spraying ticket locally but you can buy it on line no issue.

I use it on our gravel too, and the odd nettle investation.

There are quite a selection of towable mowers available for quads, or compact tractors etc. That looks flattish ground so an old gang mower would probably do you.

I use a quad one as much of our ground is soft and rushes, but a guy near here, who has 12 acres uses an old suzuki vitara towing an old gang mower. His fields always look good.
