B*gger that for a game of soldiers.
its called a trap doorThat working where we were at in the photo was dug in the early 18th century. So far along was an old air door along with wooden rails and the seat where the 5+ year old child would sit. Amazing really. The orange colour is the iron coming through the coal. That's the height of the seam. We were just on a training excersie in them photos shortly before it closed. Funnily enough it's one of the best jobs I have had!
Is that a "re breather" set you are using
The station we had our training at was at houghton le spring
I work in confined spaces its called - wimpey housesYes the mines rescue. Funnily enough I did a confined space course there when I left the pit thought it would be handy even though I spent most of my time in a confined space before without any papers!

no not realy if I -ever rewire houses and -theres a 14 inch void underneath I crawl under and pull cables through and get someone else to feed me them down it saves taking boards and carpets up --and move furniture. if its dusty-u need a facemask. now-and then u bat holes through the walls and crawl through. its that tight -u feel sick as though u are been crushed and gasp for air as its clostrofobic not a nice feeling if u think your stuckSame over here but called storey houses amazing what you can do with photoshop to make them look big! It was one of the rescue team that suggested doing a confined space course. His theory was working in a attic is classified as a confined space so someone doing plumbing work with a gas bottle it would be called dangerous work and only one means of exit it would be a health and safety nightmare. He was under the impression everyone working somewhere like that would need to have a confined space course. Heard anything like that brightspark?
One of my old bosses went to look at a new build show house, after a few minutes, he realised all was not as it appeared. He took out a tape measure to find out they had made special furniture 10% smaller to make the rooms look bigger. When the salesperson realised what he was doing he was thrown out. Apparently special show house undersized furniture is readily available to the tradeI work in confined spaces its called - wimpey houses
Ive been to many of the fire training places used by the offshore industry, montrose, teeside, falck nutec what ever they call it now, morten in the Marsh, to name a few. All have been Hsed. Still not a pleasent experience. CSE rescue is something very important, yearly there are reports of fatalities. Usually 2 one gets in trouble, his mate goes to help.
I agree the hested pool is a joke in survival training. They dont even let you use the helicopter escape sets with the air bottle. Hse is pressurised scuba equipment.
Blenkie your not far from me, im just over the wall up close to kielder.
No dirt bikes in the forest now, the doogooders rule the world.
