9 inch angle grinder too big?

I have the Metabo cordless 9 inch. You can twist the handle so your hand is in the correct position for cutting or grinding. The blade will stop within 3 seconds of lifting off the deadmans trigger too.
Seen here in use cutting up the redundant steel bath to get it in the back of the van.
Not me in the pic, im left handed and use it in this orientation, but with the trigger in my left and handle in right hand with me stood on the "guarded side".
I assume that this is correct as i dont get covered in sparks unlike me mate

im left handed and hold the trigger with left hand and handle in right the only downside is the gear head partially obstructs the view of the cutting edge on the blade and you have to crane your neck round a bit to get full view

Don’t take me wrong, 9” grinders are dangerous things and must be respected. But so is a Stanley knife. They cause more injuries than grinders and just as serious if not more.

Things that are big, angry, noisy and scary (like my mrs) such as 9" grinders or stihl saws tend to command more respect than smaller every day tools such as stanley knives or small grinders - perhaps why they cause more accidents.

True @Welderpaul but my opinion is respect the tools that learn or earn your money disrespect your tools lose time and money

I watched soemone stick a 12" sizal mop on one. I warned him to hold on tight when he started it.
He didn't, or couldn't, it shot out of his hands and wound it's way across the garage, until it go to the
wall and then it pulled it's plug out;-)

stihlsaws are very forgiving and get badly abused with hardly any accidents, a 9inch grinder is something else . I have stihlsaws and a 9 inch grinder but rarely use it as I prefer the 7 inch one I have. the big uns only any good if your needing to removing a lot of metal fast . times money

I once put a still saw blade in to a 9 inch grinder
That was a big .mistake

I've also used a disc to big for a 9 inch grinder, I'd run out of discs and no way was not finishing the job, it is a bit scary as you can't fit the guard, I was cutting a tranny can up so the extra size did come in handy, I was glad when it wore down so I could put the guard back on

I managed to get a nasty cut from a safety box cutter.
And I managed to almost cut my fingers off on a piece of copper strip nailed to a door frame.
I am probably safer with big nasty angry things!

The video of the grinder bouncing into the man's stomach is horrific, looks like he was cutting wood and holding it at arms length.

am I safe to assume so long as its used correctly this type of thing shouldn't happen?

dont be put off just beaware video 1 and video 3 small grinder

caused by the metal nipping the spinning blade thats why he got a face hit

also number 2 stupid worker using it along side another worker stupiderty galore
on another note too bone idol to swap to other side to cut that grinder pulls forward so can be pulled out of your grip

video 3 thin blade metal nipped the blade shattered the disc it does hurt when that disc bounces off the floor even if your low to the ground it can still hurt

video 4 wrong tool for the job cutting up pallets with a grinder is bone idolness
wrong holds on grinder too high for cutting

high cuts grip the thing you have also got to be aware of what that tool is doing years of practice
