I have often pondered having a 7.5 ton lorry for fetching steel on, using to take a tractor to a road run and generally anything I would normally use a trailer for.
This has recently come up again as at the moment I don't have a van or a trailer, and have been looking for an 14' Ifor. The second hand prices of trailers seem to have gone though the roof at the moment, but I noticed a tidy 7,5 ton lorry for sale, tested, 57 plate for half the price of a second hand trailer. it looks like I may be classed as a private user, only carrying my own goods so could be cpc exempt. How do I stand delivering something I have made for a customer though? Are they still my goods until delivered?
Also do I need an operators licence? From what I have seen if I need one for a 7.5 ton lorry then I would also need one for my L200 and trailer.
Do 7.5's have to have 6 weekly inspections? I do spanner myself so have no problem keeping it roadworthy.
It maybe a definite no go when I find out more, but I thought I would ask on here if anyone uses or knows about the do's and don'ts with a lorry so I can forget the idea or look into it more.
Thanks very much.
