Using a spool in this type of car is pretty standard fare and in preference to an lsd,
running something like power levels of 800+ horsepower and similar torque levels through a transbraked transmission (basically dropping the clutch at full revs but with an auto) and through 12" or wider slicks designed to dead hook,
The result is often wheelstands and first 60' of track in around 1.3 seconds,
an lsd often wont handle these torque levels which in turn breaks one wheel loose and the result is rear wheel steering often putting the car into the wall,
Its not a cheapskate thing but a safety item,
perfectly usable on the street,
As this car owned by a friend below demonstrates,
1000hp, has covered thousands of street driven miles over the last 10 years including a 1600 mile round trip to Sweden last year,
This car was no expense spared build designed for street use with.....a spool.
