They look great but what happens when that vent gets blocked with ash?
Or in my case pallet nails.

in your case lift the middle vent up and brush into the ashpan underneath

I will explain they burn the gas given off by the wood so in downdraft mode its actually burning the gas instead of the wood

but to do that the wood must burn to give the gas off

rocket stoves use this method and so do wood gassifiers

its a big con on how much wood is being used in the wood industry and how much fuel is burnt direct to atmosphere

they all use direct to flue baffle like this

during lighting all this wood is direct to flue look on the floor thats just for lighting getting too temp



i havent found the filter that is forced into an esse system on those stoves and yet on start up mode they run like a normal wood stove emmisions should be through the roof on start up on all models

hence the reason of the big con of the wood stoves comment that i have

rocket stove all day usage direct to flue

or 1 log after lighting and a good bed of ashes

i have these videos so you wont find them but was online at one time these temps are off the scale will warm canada workshop in freezing weather

be warned dont unless you protect this stove was brand new so had a new deflector that you see the flames wrap around
