prblem with not eathing the braid, it's not the first phase to braid short beacuase there is usally a load of tape wraped round that bit of mangeld cabel and there is still the plastic sheath over most of it......
it's the other phase to brade fault 10 or 20 meters away thats when it gets fun especaly when the cabel is wet inside.
dosent seem to trip it just sits there sizzling, poping occasionly the od flash. it's go on for hours as well then when the faults have worked closer together you ether get some fire or a big bang. tho big D curve breackers don't really seem intrested in doning anything about ti untill it really has developed into a small display of fireworks
That's more a fault of continuing to use a damaged cable or effecting an unsatisfactory repair. If you damage it, replace it. That's why we use hundreds of metres a year.
