3/8ths to 10mm pipe??

So the Discovery of doom has a leak with its ACE system, it would appear the pipe on the bottom left of the valve block has corroded through, it seems to be 3/8ths diameter and the plan was to chop a section out and replace with 2 compression fittings with 12inches of new pipe, I might only be able to get metric stuff locally so would 10mm fittings pull up on the 3/8 or is that asking too much?

I was under the impression that it is a high pressure system, so compression fittings are out.

If you know Discos you’ll know that the ACE hydraulics can be troublesome.
Ours was leaking where one of the rear pipes enters the block.
I bought a used valve block on eBay and took into one of the businesses I deliver to to have all the ports drilled and tapped to 3/8 bsp. A local hydraulics place made up the hoses and terminated them with 10mm compression fittings. (Yes, I know the pipes are 3/8).
Off with the old:

…and on with the new:

All being well it’ll outlast the car now.

Plenty of 3/8” steel pipe available on line , try your local hydraulics company? Depending on the flare a Sykes Pickavent flaring to should do the job.

I changed mine for 3/8 pipe, was plenty available a few years ago, comp fittings worked fine too

While I no longer have the D2 mine came from the factory without this option

It was 4 years ago. I can't remember where I bought the compression fittings from but they weren't expensive. May have been Ebay.
The spare valve block was definitely ebay.
The machining was done locally, as were the hoses.

I think I paid something like £100 for the machining, which I didn't think was too bad.

Looks good but expensive?

I did the same mod on my D2 circa 2017, did it myself so just the cost of parts

I also replaced the hydraulic hoses, local hydraulic hose place made them for me

I moved onto a D3 from the D2, unfortunately the D3 didnt have ACE and it definitely had more body roll through corners than my D2

Tractor shop came up trumps with a bit of tube and some compression fittings, they'd run out of sunshine so it will wait for a day or two

Sunshine turned up today so an ideal time to lay under the fine piece of engineering and quality product that sometimes acts as a motor veehicle

10mm fittings on the imperial pipe is right near the limits for the compression fittings but it's in


You can just see the little pinhole by the torch, circled if you can't see it!
