2k satin black to spray at home

I've a few bits n bobs to paint. I have been using epoxy primer, which I am happy with, for top coat I've used rustoleum, manor coatings high build vinyl and some water based bedec msp. I'm looking for something tougher so thinking of 2k satin black.
I'm only talking of small parts, like some carbon handlebars for my bike.
I'm happy to keep myself safe and will set up for air fed etc. My concern is neighbours, although my garage is away from my house and neighbours houses.
I don't know if it's worth the hassle, or if I should look for something else that's tougher than what I've been using. Maybe nisocoat 2 or something.

Why not use hmg nisocoat 2 iso free acrylic 2k? Easily available from Rawlins and the cured film is comparable to proper 2k. Available in loads of gloss levels and colours.

Why not use hmg nisocoat 2 iso free acrylic 2k? Easily available from Rawlins and the cured film is comparable to proper 2k. Available in loads of gloss levels and colours.

Yeah I mentioned that in my first post. Is it any good? I could get away without airfed too.

It does what it says it does, similar performance as isocyanate cured 2k but without the risks of isocyanates.
The only noticeable difference compared to an automotive traditional 2k is in sprayability... It flashes quickly so no good for spraying large items like cars in one hit. Fine for doing it piecemeal though. I found it cures well in quite low temps too.

Would I not be safe in my 3m mask for non iso? That's what I've been using for the other paints, I generally pick a decent day and open a door and window. That seems to move the spray dust out pretty quick. I know I can't do this for iso 2k.

Isocyanates in vapour are very injurious to health. Some people get away with it for 20 years, others are sensitised on the first use. That is why positive pressure PPE is mandated in this country.
Negative pressure masks for isocyanates do exist on the market and potentially would work, however... There is no way to ensure a 100% seal to the face, particularly with the current fashion for men to look like they slept in a hedge for a fortnight.

That is why I am telling you not to even think about it and that you also protect your neighbours from it with some sort of enclosure.

Your misunderstanding my posts. I've never mentioned spraying 2k without airfed mask. Or indeed some form of extraction. I'm fully aware of the dangers.

For non iso, yes but your early posts mentioned 2K which is generally although not always, isocyanate hardening.

In the same early post it also states that if I use iso 2k I will gear up with air fed mask!

I painted my scooter in my garage of a typical 30's house with shared driveway, I checked no one was in the garden(mainly for noise) and carried on painting...................no one complained.

You will be fine, if it's only small things and not that often no one will even know, you just need to pick the right time, don't go doing it on a summer Sunday when it 25c as everyone will be out in the gardens, if it's 14c and raining then everyone is inside with the windows closed, better still do it when they are out

I have to say, I spray lots of small parts as part of repairs and resto to many of our classic cars. Very often, I'll add extra reducer to black epoxy and shoot. Great job, satin finish. Negates big compressor and airbfed if you're diy-ing

That could be a plan. What epoxy are you using that is black? Any pics of parts done? Does it chalk up over time with UV?

I'm a fairly recent convert from etch but I'm told it doesn't. It was created for marine applications after all. I'm using Selemix 413. It's tintable.
