@Fortis you will need to wire the VFD direct to the motor. You can not have any switches, or anything after the vfd, reversing should be controlled with inputs to the vfd itself. As an example mine has 2 switch inputs and a potentiometer.
The good thing is it will massively simplify the machine wiring.
E-stop needs to be on the vfd input and configued to stop on power loss.
That reversing switch has had some abuse!

I disagree, would you care to back that up? There may be issues with a massively oversized unit but I would be happy running any small motor from a 3kw vfd.Just be aware that very much over-sized units may not have settings which are appropriate for lower powered motors. But buy one bigger than the motor delivery power - they require more input power than they deliver!
I wouldn’t use anything bigger than 1.5kW for that motor - and nothing (of Chinese origin) less than 0.75kW (one horse power).
