I made one last year. On reflection a 2 pole motor would have been better. Also decent belts worth the extra expense.

3m cubitron best I have used. Any ceramic generally better than Alu oxide. AO I use for wood and it lasts forever, but as soon as you can't be bothered or forget to change the belt then use steel on it it wears very quickly.

Theres lots of free plans floating about , and half made kits of laser cut profiles on flea bay , some of them seem really well thought out.

I have one of those types . I think it might be a sealey and if I blow on it it stops the belt.
That's why I need to get my 2" belt one running.

mine dont stop or the belt slip the sealy ones like most others are just a cheap offering and not up to the job .more diy

I am guessing the sealey ones have a cheap.crap motor.
