Hey Gavin....ya missed a bit. Underside of the windscreen top rail is still in grey primer on one side! It can wait until we nip back for the polishing.

No probs.

Wiring loom is in, some dashboard bits and soundproofing etc. Hardest thing is to work out the best order to reassemble without having to take stuff back off. It must be 5 years since it all came apart. Strange that only now am I finding small repair jobs on things that have sat in boxes for all that time.

Does anyone on here have a recommendation for which 'products' I should be getting for metalwork protection? Dinitrol etc?

Also, why is it that the compressor choses this exact moment to die after 20 years of good service, Bu66er! Time to scan Ebay for a Christmas 'special' deal?

Hi Rob, I wouldn't use waxoyl, never had any good results with that. I've used Bilt Hambers chassis wax with good results. Comes in large aerosols with a 2 foot lance to get into the chassis or 5 litre cans for a sprayer. It's worth having a look at their web site.

Waxoyl used to be excellent years ago when Finnigans did it, seems to be thinner now.

Top tip....be careful with your spelling when trying to google images of "aerosol, cavity, wax" if you have predictive text typing!!!

Getting there. I've cut up a motorcycle exhaust (FRZ or summat like that) to make this new one for the Minor. It works quite well so long as I remove the spacer plate between block and filter that currently connects an oil cooler. This engine used to be in a rally car (1955 RAC Rally) but an oil cooler seems a bit superfluous on a road car. It ought to release a few extra horses above the standard asthmatic manifold designed by the head numpty at Morris Motors. New brake pipe forming tool on order after reading some reviews on this site. Then I can get the gearbox cover on. I had hoped to change the gearbox rubbers but the mounts are NLA and there aren't any stocks left. Devcon....easy to use???

not a crossflow see the gaps in the exhaust manifold for the inlet manifold to fit

Rob couple of things. Might be a bit late now you have a fair bit in but as the moggs must be well documented inc historic pic of the assembly line ? would there not be pics of the various stages of assembly done in the factory that might give a clue as to refitting order?
Have you tried Moss at the bottom of the M32 in Bristol for the parts you seek ?

It is an ALTA conversion to the standard Morris sidevalve engine (Think Ford 100E but not as good). They replace the flat head with this OHV one and use all the original manifold etc. but a couple of inches further up. This one has spent all its' life racing until last year so has had a hard time but is well looked after.
As to the reassembly, I'm almost finished now bar the interior and the door components (Gavin. Is the paint dry yet? ) Moss etc are fine for the Morris 1000 stuff but the pre-1953 stuff is very hard to come by. Lots of little things are different such as the pedal position, the drivetrain rubber mountings and wiring loom. Even the front suspension legs are different, having imperial bearing sizes whilst the Morris 1000 had metric ones. Most of the early stuff is N.L.A. I've had the gearbox crossmember on and off five times so far. since you can't get the engine in or the gearbox mounts changed with it bolted down, unlike the later cars.
Ideally I'd like to find someone who has a Morris MO, circa 1953, to take some dimensions from. The original Morris racecar had some MO parts to help it compete in the rally such as brake units and possibly torsion bars. MO cars are even thinner on the ground.

I like these sorts of cars put back as they were. My next door neighbour had a traveler when I was a kid. My dad though them rubbish which they were in direct relation to other more up to date cars of the 70s hardly any of which hold as much interest today or craftsmanship

I like the colour - Almond Green if I remember correctly - same as my first car - Moggie Traveller

Close. Mist Green, a Landrover colour? It was originally a dark, drab green when it was originally shipped to Aus but that was such a sombre colour that we decided to get something a bit more 'jolly'. Seems to suit the car and goes well with the gold dashboard.
