TEF I think started as an offshoot from another which was then referred to as "the dark side" by the leavers.

There are some really good guys on there. Sadly many of the stellar names have passed on, a few I knew well. Older guys who'd done proper apprenticeships. Heart attacks, the Big C etc. Most documented their journeys, others just went...

That has all too a familiar feeling...

I think I got 98% on the 17th but only 94% on the 18th. I put it down to successive editions packing more pages in the same thickness of book. Now they're like Rizlas.

Actually I thought some of the 18th questions were a bit misleading, dare I say deliberately obtuse.

Guy I know has just done his 18th amendment 3 and got 88%. A mechanic by trade.

Thanks but putting questions up here won't help.

The trainer is not teaching them where to look for the answers.
My son only has 2 mins per question.

Questions 5-6 relate to chapter 2
Questions 7-12 relate to chapter 3
Questions 13-27 relate to chapter 4
Questions 28-41 relate to chapter 5
Questions 42-45 relate to chapter 6
Questions 46-52 relate to chapter 7
Questions 53-60 relate to chapter 8 & appendix

Not really. Sadly he failed today.
I am going to check the questions he failed on.

They are talking about giving him a free new attempt as the computer was playing up badly and even his trainer saw him complete questions that had no no answer at the end.

Do you have an older Windows pc running say XP? Might run on a newer OS I've not tried.

I've a 16th edition exam simulator that's a .exe file somewhere. I'll look now and email if I have it. Tbh if you just knew the 16th you'd pass the 18th. The core principles are the same after all.

Just emailed you a whole bunch of stuff. It's a 17th simulator not 16th. Also loads of test questions. As a .rar file. Honestly I forget what's in it. Put it together years ago when helping other people.

It's good practice to read the regs a couple of dozen times . Each time you re read then you'll swear someone had nicked the thing and added new parts / bits of info each time .
A barrister pal told me that for his exams he usually read a paper at least a hundred times to get it ingrained in his head , letting his brain sort it out whilst he slept .
I practiced that after getting doubl4e pneumonia during a 38 week long course as an industrial electronic testing & servicing mechanic , where I missed eight weeks due to the double pneumonia and was thrown off the course at week 27 .
When exam time came I passed with a 94 % in theory and 98 % in the three hour long practical .

Not long after passing my IETSM exams I get a job interview for IETSM at a big local area hospital . Several suits in front of me not a pair of overalls in sight , one of the suits started asking me about personnel matters , then his pal said what is discrimination .
Me :-
" Giving a coloured guy the job when he's least qualified applicant " .

You could have heard a pin drop after the noise of rushing air intakes

He meant sub fusing to lower values to protect circuits & circuit boards .

I'm pleased I didn't get the job .. I found out later there had been over 15 people taken on in 2 years and they all left within weeks
