Fair enough but I was wondering from a general perspective if machines were designed to take all sizes of reels.
Did you have a speical machine to do the rewinding,if not be interested on how you managed it?If the machine will take 15kg rolls it can be a big cost saving. Downside is you need to use it as if it gets damp and corrodes the roll might end up scrap, learnt that the hard way! We used to roll 3 x 5kg from a 15kg as the machine only took 5kg and we were going through it. We then upgraded the machine and ended up with a part used 15kg and little work so it rusted.

To me,a lathe is a speical machineNo machine, the 5kg drum was held on an adaptor in the lathe and the 15kg on a spindle a few feet away then guided by gloved hand with the lathe running.
