I found a banger would slide down a jack handle, pushed into the ground. Quickly followed by a marble. If you got the angle of fandangle right you could hear it hit tin shed roofs 500dys away

We used to use bike seat posts inverted as mortar tubes for fireworks...

Reality check folks, If you are making something to hold a cartridge that goes bang it must not have a barrel, the law is very clear on this & penalties are severe. An alarm gun just has a hole in a plate that holds the base of the cartridge, so no barrel ie it is legal.
Be very careful what you design & build otherwise you might get your collar felt.

And I believe they blanks have to be black powder

No barrel on this, opens out and then is vented

For ease you chould use an electric match and a crow banger. You get 12 ropes of 12 bangers in a box. The bangers are held in there rope by there own fuses untwist the rope and they fall out.

The bang is as good as a shotgun

Was going to combat that by just not mentioning it

If anything fires a projectile it needs a lice, simple as that ( unless it's an airgun under particular limits)
There is then the issue of proof testing, I know a few guys who have made thier own guns it's something I rather fancy doing one day ( legally of course) . Although I have restored a few making from drawings is a whole different thing again.

Blanks aren't that bad but, if you succeed in making it work and post details, there might well be someone out there who would try to adapt it to "go bang a lot".

We have a regular customer who ships pallet loads of shotgun cartridges. They are classified as non hazardous!
And yet sending large quantities of small CO2 bulbs is a no no.....................

They are not likely to explode the powder used is more an excelerant.. Can actually burn surplus power by just putting a match to it. Only black powder goes bang to a match and you need an explosives license to keep black.
