So an EZ650 is no better then. I can get one for £111will test the earth loop and polarity but it wont show loop and fail if you have a tt supply and an earth rod

That was what I was wondering. Better than nothing, even if I can check areas in advance would be a bonus. The who ever is testing needs to be aware of potential dangers confuses me. LolIt's better than nothing but unless what you have described are a few separate coincidences probably will not get to the route cause of a possible fault.
Nothing that I can think of, the problem is if there is a fault whoever is testing needs to be fully aware of the potential dangers.
If this was to be a N &orE fault you can potentially get high currents flowing where normally you would absolutely nothing. That was what I was wondering. To be honest it's not going to tell you much more than a basic version at around £15.So an EZ650 is no better then. I can get one for £111

- getting tingles off the printer usb lead is not necessarily a problem. Some devices with a switch mode mains adapter and no ground have a capacitor between the mains and low voltage sides of the power supply, for interference suppression purposes. The current available is very low but it will show up to several hundred volts on a digital multimeter. Mobile phone chargers sometimes do this too, I get a slight buzz off my phone when charging. Sounds dangerous but isn't.

I don't suppose any members local to Kidderminster know of a decent time served electrician.
They seem to be few and far between.
