Done ours twice, first time just the bearing and seal, spider was just on the limit of wear, second time did the spider and bearing as the shaft on the spider by that time was knackered. If you can do it it's a cheap repair, but it's the last repair ours will get as my enthusiasm with a hammer...
I've taken a look and can't see anything obvious, my background is mechanical not electrical, so if by crack, we are talking hairline, that you can only see under magnifying glass, then might of missed it!
I've attached some photos if you have any further ideas to identify fault they would be...
Hi all
Does anyone on here have any experience of brushless motors within power tools and the fault where they stutter or what I have learnt it's referred to as 'cogging'?
I have a brushless hammer drill 18v (cheapy worx), it has started doing this when you first pull the trigger, it stutters...
Yes and no, I've bought scanning gear that sees me alright and has paid for itself. Even programming new modules etc is doable with a bit of know how. I think the likes of ADAS recalibrations etc are going to make it impossible for the DIYer in the future without at least some of the work...
Cheers guys looks like a bit more investigation is in order to check the above raised points.
Competency is a good point to raise, fair point as you don't know who you are advising on a forum! Happy to do it myself, rebuilt calipers before, done timing belts, clutches, gearbox, fuel pump...
Hi all,
Noticed after lockdown that one rear disc on my van wasn't scrubbing off the rust as well as the other, after a drive one disc is hot, the other cold/luke warm, have gone over it and it seemed like the automatic handbrake adjustment isn't working. Sliders and pads are all free.
I wound...
Cheers, looks good, must be sods law but size I think I need is £63 several other sizes either side are 20 odd. Will double check sizes and hopefully find its either side of estimated size!
Hi all,
I'm guessing there is nothing that can be done to sort this but thought I'd ask on the off chance.
Investigating a leak on gearbox and have found it is coming from the input shaft seal.
It seems to have rust on it and having gently cleaned it off with some fine scotchbrite it appears...
Totally forgot to update this, in case anyone comes across this on a search in the future. All of my tests rang true and showed no issues....this was because there were no issues with this side of the system.
Moral to this story is don't believe what the garage tells you. Found a leak on the...
I definitely have tools I could do without, but I'm not sure if I'd get rid of them! I often buy tools on offer or secondhand so the chance of being able to buy them for the same money again if I found myself unable to borrow are slim.
I also consider purchases on the basis of will they pay for...
Been fine for years with just a bigger hole in the wood, exhaust is wrapped in fibreglass wrap (same as on vehicles) and metal plates inside and outside, inner face of hole in wood is covered in foil tape. Metal plate extends the length of the exhaust outside and the silencer is at a slight...
I saw this article too. On the subject of cambelts have @doubleboost or @Ruffian got any experience of doing the GM Z17DTH (the 1.7 turbo cdti, based on the old Isuzu engines) that is known for oil sprockets coming loose? If so do you always remove the sprocket nut and loctite it or do you...
Foxwell nt680 professional does those things bit over budget but they come up secondhand. As above no one scanner will do everything, I'm pretty impressed with the foxwell updates, lots of functionality added since purchase. There's 3 variants which can catch you out, all often mention 'pro'...
Hi all
Looking for a coating suitable to go over a corroded chassis (4x4 with ladder chassis not monocoque) that will be needle scaled and degreased only (time/funds/equipment dont allow for removal of all rust, it's not a resto, just trying to extend its life)
Considering using Corroless...
