Thank you guys. It was a sticky switch, works perfectly now.
So simple that I couldn't think about it, I thought it would be some kind of complex electronic problem.
Now I just have to work on my technique......
The machine is a Kemppi MLS 2300 and this is what's happening;
I am welding along and at the end when I take my foot off the pedal, the arc keeps 'running on' at low amps.
The only way I can stop it is to stomp on and off the pedal a couple of times until it stops.
Or of course, just pull the...
I guess it is a little bit.
When I did my TIG course, some guys learnt quicker than others and the teacher would always make sure to tell the ones who thought they were getting 'really great' to weld the cans together and when that's done, do the razor blades.
And if they can manage that...
Lately, I have got this thing in my head that I need to master welding aluminium cans. Don't ask me why because I don't know? Just some mental instability perhaps.
In any case, just this afternoon I managed to stick two cans together and although not a nice looking consistent weld, they are are...
I'm just wondering how much one could cram in to two days. I spent 12months at the local TAFE college 3 nights a week doing a TIG course. Mind you, that had a bit of theory in it as well.
Two days might be enough to learn the do's and the don'ts and how to get started and practice on from there.
I bought one in a moment of temporary insanity. It looks really really good in my toolbox, about all what its good for.
My own fault though, I should have known, typical US bubblegum quality and design.
Update - I spoke to Kemppi Australia and they confirmed that Synergetic pulse only works on DC.
The guy I spoke to does agree that the manual and its translation from Finnish could be improved.
I had a welder made by Awelco, rebadged and sold as BlueMIG 120 in Australia by Bunnings.
It was one of the worst purchases I've ever made, the wirefeed was as predictable as Melbourne weather. In the end, we had a barbeque at my place once and one aqaintaince ended up quite drunk and I managed...
Kemppi says that their MIX AC/DC feature helps welding thick and thin aluminium together. I've tried it and it reminds me of pulse somewhat.
Miller says their Advanced Squarewave gives more efficient control and results in :
Higher travel speeds
Narrower more deeply penetrating arc
Able...
That makes sense. Sort of. It explains that synergetic pulse doesn't work on AC. But not why Kemppi did it that way. It would have been really cool if Kemppi could have found the energy to write in the manual that it only works on DC...
I just want to experiment with all the features, see what...
I think you're right, I think he has. In fact, it was partially his feedback that influenced me to buy it.
Hoping for some good advice from the Doctor...
Hello all,
I have a MasterTig MLS 2300 ACDC with ACX panel. The manual says:
"Synergetic quick pulse
Press the PULSE button twice and the synergetic light turns on. Pulse parameters are calculated automatically when average welding current is selected. Other pulse selections are not...
I see plumbers, fabricators, etc 10 times a day drive around with oxy/acetylene bottles on the back of utes. No stickers or warning labels. I have never heard of any serious accidents either.
Of course, I realize the regs may be diffrent in Australia from the UK.
Now that you mention it, getting the filler in the root without it melting first is very much part of the problem. Vertical up is the hardest of all for me and while I can handle 3 mm, the 1.6 mm is very unforgiving/no margin for error. The weldpool seems to have a mind of its own in that...
Thanks for all this! Whilst it isn't my thread, I need much the same help as Malcolm. I am having trouble with 1.6 mm vertical up fillet welds in particular, using 1.6 mm tungsten and filler with a Kemppi MasterTIG (plenty bells and whistles here). I am sort of OK with the other types of welds...
I have EXACTLY the same problem with aluminium fillets as Malcolm and I suspect for the same reasons. I try and keep the arc short but for some reason, it seems as if I'm much more prone to dipping the tungsten with AC on aluminium than DC on mild steel. I wish it wasn't so but it is so if...
I have just bought a Makita cordless portable bandsaw and it says that I have to use "Makita cutting wax". I have not found ANYONE who sells this.
What can I use instead?
Please help...
