Hi Guys
Many Thanks to all who replied, the Helmet seems to be working ok but I wondered if the darkening speed starts to decrease if the batteries run down or just suddenly stops going dark altogether
Hi Guys
I only do some occasional hobby Welding but how often should I change the Batteries on my Self Darkening Helmet
How would I know when the Batteries need changing?
Only the loose Collar is Cast the rest is Steel and I know it won't be an easy job to do although I'm sure I can do a better job than the Previous Owners guy did
It certainly won't be an easy fix and I dare not take the bodged up patch off until I am ready to Weld it up which may mean that I will have to put some sort of Sleeve over it and then Weld that in place, or in other words a Neater Bodge of my own and there is also a piece in the middle that...
As its not a Stainless Steel Exhaust I cannot see any point in using Stainless Steel Wire, if it were a Stainless Steel Exhaust then that would be different
Hi Guys
I need to put in a new piece of exhaust pipe on my Car where the previous owners repairer seems to have made a bit of a bodge up
But can you Mig Weld exhaust pipe or does it have to be braised?
I don't want to take my Car to an Exhaust Shop, I want to repair it myself and I will try...
Hi gaz
I want to heat around 40 gallons and have already done some R&D using some Old Barrels and it works even better than expected!
So now I want to replicate what I have done so far by using New Barrels, where basically I'm just playing around in order to see what is possible in an attempt...
Hi That sounds a Great idea!
There is a Hydraulic Shop down the road from me, so I'll ask them if they have one to fit the Brass/Bronze connector in my Photo but would you Weld it in with 0.6 or 0.8 ?
Hi Guys
Just had a look at an Essex Flange on ebay and one was not far short of £60 with some around £15-£20 so maybe I'll try with a normal type Tank Connector and see how it goes, the thing I am Constructing is for an Outside Off-Grid Hot Water System, so its really no big deal if it leaks a...
Hi Paul
What I omitted to mention was that the Barrel will be sitting on top of another Barrel, which will be turned into a Burner to Heat the Water in the Barrel which will be sitting on top, so any rubber seals are going to melt
Hi Guys
The Tank Connector idea, is something I considered but I want the Barrel Standing up on its end, which would mean the Tank Connector would be in the Curved side of the Barrel, in which case it may not be a Water Tight fit, like it would be if I put it on the Flat end
Hi Guys
I could use some advice on Welding this Galvanized Malleable Socket (see Photo) into the side of a 45 Gallon Oil Drum
First of all the Drum is Brand New made of Steel and has a removable lid and has never contained any inflammable substance, so providing I leave the lid off when I'm...
Hi Guys
A few days ago I got my £18 Leopard Auto Darkening Welding Helmet which was in a matte black finish and adjusted the sensitivity to the Max (and hope that was right) and the delay to about half way and as for the Shade, I also had that at the Max with the intention of going lighter
if...
Since that is about 2.5 Times as much as a BOC PD
I think that will probably be enough for my needs, especially as BOC and my nearest SGS Stockist are about the same distance away but when I take the PD back to BOC I will call in on the SGS Stockist and see what is available
Thanks for your help
