Petrol/Diesel prices near you

It's 20l for metal Jerry cans, 10l for plastic.
No idea for carrier bags.

It looks like they fixed that anomaly in 2014 when they updated the rules. It used to state you couldn't dispense more than 10L into any container! Of course everyone just ignored it anyway! But you are not allowed to take more than 30L in any one go

Tesco unleaded E10 in Newtown yesterday was showing 147.9 outside the store, but 146.9 at the pump.

We moan about the increase in petrol/diesel prices, but food prices have gone up by much more than that, over the past year or two.

The price of oil had actually dropped considerably before this latest fiasco! Food production is pretty labour intensive compared to oil.

Appears we are likely to have a diesel shortage in the next few weeks. Gov' want to reduce speed limits to save fuel

This could be good news...I'm thinking the 20mph limit in London can't really be very efficient...maybe it'll go back up to 30mph?

The cost of electricity has been a big factor, too. Especially noticeable in eating establishments, having to pay through the nose to keep the places warm.

It is actually illegal to put petrol in the wrong container. In fact, technically, a 20L jerry can should only be half full as the dispensing limit is 10L. A nonsense law of course and totally unenforceable considering what this "Stupid woman" just did. Why did nobody stop her? I would have. She turned her car into a potential bomb!

When the tanker drivers went on strike in the early 2000s it was chaos because the queues spilled out onto the small roads in London and everything got stuck.

I'm a little surprised we haven't seen gov intervention yet...cutting the fuel duty would seem pretty obvious thing to do.

The government intervention will be - work from home .
Because we all know that all the real work is done on a computer .

Our plastics suppliers have told us that as from April 1st there will be a 20% increase in the cost of all mdpe products, noticed there was more stock in their yard than there has ever been so they will be raping us off the back of the mayhem.

Had the same bad news from my roofing suppliers...all bitumen products to go up. At the end of the day its all relative as costs just get passed on to customers..Not so easy when you have about 30K worth of qoutes out there at old prices though

Temporary reduction in tax on fuel would be logical as other European countries have done, which would help the government reduce inflation but then they wouldn’t reap the higher tax income. I guess we know where their priorities lay.

Costco diesel jumped from 158.9 on Sunday to 166.9 today. Still it seems to be the cheapest around.

It takes very wide shoulders to carry these increases. I wonder how long it will be before people can’t afford to commute or put on short time. Taking half measures will make a pigs ear of the economy though so never underestimate their ability to screw things up further.

On the bright side the roads are very quiet, nearly comparable to Covid.

The most I paid was 184p while on hols in Cornwall in 2022, I think this time it's not the price but availability that's going to be the problem.

I can't see the government stepping in at all. They'll just reap the tax income and ignore the cost of living, I mean that's been their way since July 2024.

I don't remember fuel being that expensive then or remember people going to work as it was work from home and definitely no holidays during covid.

Edit. you aren't talking about covid period but of Russian invasion of Ukraine when they cut fuel duty.

Sorry, but just because you dont remember it, doesn't mean it wasn't the case. Covid lock downs were 2020 / 2021, things were getting back to normal service by summer 2022 when fuel prices reached their peak.
