Parkside (Lidl) Inverter Welder: Any Good?

Thanks Ronan, I still have to sort out a means of getting gas into the whole thing. As much as I like a challenge, and I do, I think that's a bridge too far at the moment. I might just as well bite the bullet and spend £100 on a bottle of Argoshield and try out my little Clarke MIG that I bought cheap about 3 years ago. Once the wind drops that is . I've given up with the Parkside, I've ended up chasing holes around

It does seem to be a cracking little welder for the price though. I just need to learn to weld now.

Valved TIG torch means you connect the regulator direct to the torch where you manually open and close the valve. It doesn't go through the machine.

I didn't look that closely at it. I still need to buy gas, so better off with the extra £65 in my pocket. At the moment anyway. I keep meaning to have a couple of hours TIG tuition at my local community workshop, maybe I'll spend the money on that first

The switch is dead; it's an ex-switch, it's shuffled off this mortal coil. The bloomin' contacts seem to have welded themselves together

...I think he is trying to convey the simple message, that the switch is possibly at fault, although this fact hasnt been confirmed
not sure about the switch though, maybe someone else can ask him.I thought it was the caps, but apparently its not the caps, its missing the points, and now he is talking about turds, now whether that is the problem with the missing points he is referring to, because most people dont realise, missing the tapered points on turds, causes the sphincter to slam shut on exit causing sphincter bounce, which can cause other far reaching issues.

On cursory acquaintance I thought they probably made better welders than singers. One or two of them might have a hidden fusion talent.

they do have them from time to time, this was a german swinger one ttps://www.lidl.de/de/siena-garden-schaukel-denver/p195469 they did them in different colours so you could swap with friends

very handy we used to use them for wheel nuts, put one over each wing of the rally car during service so the nuts were always in the same spot not trodden in the gravel.

Out of interest having never owned a stick welder, aside from not having to use gas, portability and no need for a 32amp supply do these small inverters have any advantage over a 215 amp mig? I.E in what they're capable of / more suited to?

Those magnetic 'blanket' type paint protectors they had ages ago

Just bought one today. Will give it a whirl and let you know. Looks cute and seems of reasonable quality. The accessories mask etc are tosh. But for £80. Worth a whirl.
