Those 3x2 slabs you have removed have some value, most people hate them but those in the know are aware they are perfect for a parking area, the average car won't crack them like the smaller one's.

They've already been "sold" to a friend who plans to use them for the base of his new dog runs for the sheep dogs. He can shift them himself though too heavy to be moving about too much!

Concrete arrived right on time. The weather didn't arrive as bad as forecast so it was go go go!

that's it after the first go over with a bull float - great bit of kit! Just waiting to get back out in about an hour to give it another going over. Not going to get all fancy and finish float it with a small hand float. I'm happy for it to be level and smooth. It's going to be painted with epoxy floor paint to seal it eventually.

The 2 square indents in the middle at either end are the post sleeves I concreted in yesterday to allow a removable vice post and whatever else I can think of to be used. They are 100x100 internal by about 600 deep so should be solid.

if your painting it get it as smooth as you can do try not to have the ridges on it and smooth out those indents as well

The 2 square indents are post sleeve holes to allow a removable vice post. I have lids for them. Gave it another going over with the bull float short while ago and got a better finish. Got 2 slight ridges left but can deal with them later on. Going to go for an epoxy style levelling product to give a nice smooth sealed finish.

Gave up trying to get it any smoother. I really don't have the right float for it and I can cope with a few imperfections. It's all covered over now so I'll see how it's survived in the morning.

If there are high spots in the morning you can rub them down with a rough house brick

Well it survived the night. The frost that was forecast never came thankfully. Nice trail of cat paw prints though . managed to float them out with some wet cement.

Removed the formwork and the sides of the slab are fairly consistent. cracked the edges off down one side as I was removing the formwork but nothing to worry about. Been 10 years since I last laid concrete so I'm happy enough with my efforts.

It'll be a few weeks before I get anything more done due to work.

Been a month since I've made any progress on this due to work.

Finally got the brick course laid today. I'd never make it as a bricky but they're stuck in place and all level. Will collect the 4x2 timber for the frame tomorrow and if the weather holds up I'll get the frame started.

Got the first 2 wall panels constructed this afternoon. These 2 had to be made completely prior to erection due to the proximity of the boundary wall, as there will only be 6inch clearance.

both panels will get 3 coats of real creosote - local Agri merchant supplies it in 20litre drums.

Just need to set the threaded rod into the concrete with resin tomorrow morning before my unpaid help turn up.

Back is feeling it now though. Glad I splashed out on a 50litre compressor and nail gun to do the cladding as I'd still be out there yet if I'd used a hammer!

Well, the unpaid help arrived in the form of my dad and my uncle. First job of the day was to drill the holes for the threaded studs into the concrete. First time using the resin and stud fixing method. I'm impressed and would definitely use it for future projects.

We got the 2 panels I made yesterday up and fixed in place. The rest of the morning consisted of constructing the other wall panels. By 3pm all the wall panels were up and fixed in place.

I was short about 10 lengths of t&g cladding so will pick them up tomorrow when I go to get the plywood for the roof. If all goes to plan I should have the roof up and felted by tea time tomorrow. That will just leave the doors to make and I'll be wind and watertight

There was plenty of coffee and I even managed to rustle up some bacon rolls for lunch!
