i used a length of 15mm copper to join the hoses ;-)

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have an 04 plate L200 with a broken tailgate window. No chance in finding a replacement so the solid plate idea is a possibility.
Has anyone on here actually done this? I was wondering whether the solid plate would need to be formed up to follow the curved profile or would it go on ok just being flat?

An aluminium one was what I had in mind, but I was concerned about that curvature. If indeed there is any! Obviously it will be easy if it only curves in one plane, but anything more complex is out of my league as I don't have the facilities to deal with compound curves. It may well be flat - it's all sheeted up with plastic at the mo so I can't really tell!

Im quite surprised at there being a whole forum dedicated to l200's, i cant help wondering why, its just a means to an end pick up to me that i have to keep going. Its a 4work.
I dont have or want a canopy and cant have any roll bars or anything across the tub because i regularly get bundles of wood put in with a forklift, fills the full 7'.
I will get a strap and strap the spare to the chassis so its not just the chain holding it.

On the topic of L200 forums, there are actually two! The first was the L200 Owners Club, but the Forum was created as a breakaway splinter group by a bunch of people who were really unhappy at the way the OC was run and threads were handled.
It's quickly overtaken the original OC in terms of active members, although I think most now interact through the facebook group rather than the website.
Me, 123hotchef and woodyv8 are refugees from the L200 forum but I'll bet there are others on here, too.
It's like any car in that there will always be forums / clubs springing up to discuss and support the vehicle in question. Everything from Ford Anglias, through Subarus, double decker buses and L200s
It's been invaluable for me when I've had questions about mods and problems with my truck, plus there's a core contingent of off-road aficionados. I've built up a decent collection of new friends from the forum that I'd never have met otherwise.
We actually did discuss the lack of a social aspect to this place (referring to the mig welding forum) but the thing with vehicles is that they're (mostly!) mobile so there are often reasons for people to meet up, especially for off-roading jaunts. We also have regional meetups for a pint and a toby carvery.
That said, I've met some great folks from the welding forum too, including a certain chap who made a 700 mile 24 hour round trip for my 50th birthday last year
