The little inverter sticks are good bits of kit. Mine is 150 amp and takes a 3.2. Very portable and runs off 13 amp.
nice one i had a hobby arc but tripped switches but was 220v i think. il probs go for an esab but get the converter to make sure. thanks. do you work for a company that codes people? so your theninspector for coded pieces? The little generic Chinese unit badged up by many companies is a really nice little bit of kit. I've used them loads of times and for the price you cant go wrong.
Thermal arc 175, parweld xti, esab buddy arc all use this machine. Pick your favourite colour.
the arc welder ive got is an old type sip 90 something like this

what i can tell you its older than 17 years old the only writing left on it is on the front panel the top plate you cant read it anymore never mind set it by its slider amps
but its still works except for the other day it did stop working its been used that long it corroded the copper wire to the transformer wire a simple reapair using a brass jointer a 16mm cable one that i had and it was up and running loverly again
now its up to the user to keep practicing with it but i tend to prefer mig more than arc
it wasnt like this was it hood ?

Not so sure, had long leads and they were heavier than the bleedin' welder So it meant not only did I have to carry the welder round I also had the weight of the leads. Fine for workshop or yard use, not so great for taking to boats etc.Long leads are the best investment for an Oxford owner!
You won't find any sets over 220 amps that are single phaseAm looking at ewm 355 but it's 3 phase.. and it's rather annoying to say the least
You can Brad. You can get 400 amp single phase sets you just need lots of current on the supply to use them. You won't find any sets over 220 amps that are single phase
Yer.. it's doing my head in... been looking at phase converters and all sortsYou won't find any sets over 220 amps that are single phase
You'll never go wrong with a FroniusI'd personally go a little bit higher up the market than the cheap machines, which although good, you'll find yourself wanting more. I've got a fronius transpocket and it's a treat. When that dies it will be either a Lorch micorstick or another fronius. EWM do a nice unit to.
Only issue with going fronius is they are iirc very limited on there range of migs for the 230v supply. I don't know what they have nowadays but I can't think of any that ain't 3phase.You'll never go wrong with a Fronius

Good info wasn't aware of that, years back they did some cracking single phase machines aimed at the garage market, as far as I'm aware their DC TIG/MMA single phase inverters are still cock on. Never been a big fan of Kemppi kit but apparently their new range of single phase MIGs are quite goodOnly issue with going fronius is they are iirc very limited on there range of migs for the 230v supply. EWM and lorch both have offerings for 230v
