You'll be needing an insulated, heated, air-conditioned, alarmed, brickbuilt tool shed with a reinforced steel door and a poured concrete roof then.
About 30sq m. should be big enough - to start with.

slate roof 70 years

Only 70 years ?

The welsh slate roof on our house is over 100 years old that I know of, possibly a lot older, when we were renovating we found the inside of the slate roof had been lime rendered and whoever had done it had carved their name & date into it.

I've been up on the roof sorting out the chimney's and the slates are still in good nick and I see no reason to replace it anytime soon

It's called 'sarking' and was also done to tiled roofs as late as 1905 , and is to exclude wind blown water, but was replaced by tarred felt (sarking felt) in the 1930's which later got replaced by various breathable membranes, all serving the same purpose - to stop wind blowing in rain and snow.

Joiner I know said a slate roof lasts as long as the nails and is shortened by walking on it as that cracks the slates

done a bit of measuring and to put a driveway in front will reduce my garden down to about 5 meters thats im thinking to small

council want 4.8 meters for a drive
