That's good to know, my eyesight isn't that bad, I just need them to drive as detail gets blurry after about 6 foot, And I've never fancied contacts with working in heavy industry. My wife had it done about ten years ago. Her eyesight was terrible and has been 20-20 since, it was 20-30 for a while.
She's pretty squeamish and said it was very unpleasant but for an hour of discomfort and a day of recovery she has had perfect sight.
I was told that the risk of cataracts was no greater that normal with lasik?Woman that used to work for me, ex reme radio tech ( prob one of the best I met ) had it done when she was about 30 and she reckoned it transformed her life. She reckoned within a day or so her vision was perfect.
Have you spoken to the surgeon about welding and increased risk of future cataracts. She did mention they asked her about that.

I think the night vision problems with glare is dependent on how far your pupil dilates and what surgery you have, I expressed that good night time vision was important to me,Mate had it done so I went to stay with him as employer (the EU !) gave him 2 weeks leave to recuperate. He got an infection and I spent 2 weeks holding him down every few hours whilst I put ointment in his eye. He was in agony. I expected thee same with the other eye but that was OK from day one !
One thing is he's lost his night vision for driving which can be one side effect he was warned about. I believe you can then get some sort of glasses to help but sort of defeats the object of having the surgery in the first place.
