That is good wood, I know carvers who love to use it.

They are pretty reasonable from what I can see. Have plans to use it for some furniture building, coffee table for the livingroom and maybe a bench for in the garden. I'll do a thread in the projects section if I ever get round to it. Might be winter time project!

Yep they're oiled with linseed oil but the kero repels the woodworm, seems to be more of a problem here in NZ than in the UK. I give all my garden tools a once over every few months.

im in my spare time (which there never seems to be enough of) am doing up an old barn, im doubling up the existing joists but there is woodworm holes in the old timber, dusty ones so i guess they have fecked off but im not sure if they have or not.
i bought woodworm protector (killer maybe) and was spraying it on but is it good enough.

i have plenty of creceot here ( the old stuff ) but im dont think its going to be much of a repelant.
whats the gig with the kerro?

Steep the handles in Linseed oil and bees wax, they will come up a treat and will not give blisters.

i have a small assortment of ash handles here in the shed, while waiting to be called forward what would be a good treatment for them to keep them right?.

Absolute madness to think of skipping this gear, Ridgid and Faithful stillsons, Bahco shifters, Gedore combination spanners (some still bagged), GearWrench pass-thru ratchets and sockets, Mitutoyo 300mm vernier caliper, punch set, new barrel pump, socket set up to 50mm (some sockets missing!), tape, full body harness and lanyard, various Loctite, grease etc., etc.

I read it on the internet. It's not much used these days because it smells and is a fire risk, but I see it fine for having in the shed as there's no fire risk there, and none of my family smoke.

I got two, fifteen draw filing cabinets today for free because a skip was being filled. They're a lot heavier than they look, and I had to carry them home up a big hill! The draws are A4 size plastic, and lockable at the top. Might use it for tools, might put all the finance and insurance documents together. Either way it made my day!

Secured a new firewood source for the winter, a local Travis Perkins has a huge pile of offcuts and scrap timber, the manager is more than happy to get rid of it, and I will be obliging them, seeing as I've got no logs this year.

Now that is a handy haul, or place for future hauls. Always good to have a decent supply of burnable timber for the winter time.
