Yes it's got a Jacobs chuck. It had been baffling me as there is no taper release slot, but instead a big knurled nut above the chuck that sits against the top of the chuck before it comes off it's thread. I guess that's for pushing off the chuck.

The base model just had a reverse taper "jacobs" type mount on the spindle, although it could be ordered with a morse taper in there as a option at manufacture. Most of the ones churned out for the war effort will have been the cooking model with the jacobs spindle, as they were destined for production work, and anything requiring driving with a MT2 would have been done on a small jig borer or mill.
Just a theory, but its my gut feeling that the non MT equipped ones were the ones churned out cheap and cheerful for the war effort.
