What is your biggest regret of a lost opportunity?

About four years ago I wandered into a half-collapsed building in Christchurch. Amongst various rusting machines, presses and scales were a set of about ten huge spanners, like 30 inch things. I didn't have a bag and thought it would look a bit suspicious walking through town with a bundle of rusting spanners, so I decided to go back for them the next day. That night, the building burnt to the ground, a hot, girder-melting fire. I didn't get my spanners

Does anyone else have a similar tale to share?

Yes exactly, 3/4" drive Britool metric socket set for £20, still kicking myself because it looked heavy.

I procrastinated on buying a 1940 vintage 45 cubic inch Harley two wheeler for $300 dollars back when I was in High School. I called back about an hour later and it was sold. My second biggest regret is selling the 69FL I built, but I still keep an old photo in my wallet to remind me of my youth.

In the words of Doris Day: Que sera, sera. Tools etc. I've missed out on plenty over the years due to hesitation, etc., but everything generally seems to happen for good reason in the end. Could you imagine how crammed and unusable our sheds and workshops would be if we got hold of everything we'd ever fancied? I just tend to appreciate what I do have rather than ruing what I don't.

Well one of my biggest automotive regrets is selling my Scimitar GTE - and then a couple of years later not buying it when it popped up on ebay. I still look occasionally in the vain hopes that it'll re-appear.
