just bought a murex plasma tradecut 5 air

Is that just the trigger cables and air going into the torch? looks like the main power stops short of the torch ,but its hard to tell from image.

Edit. Have had a closer look, i now think air/power combined in one and the exposed copper may just be a braid or screen on the control cable.

2nd Edit. have you removed the blade from the fan or was it missing?

robert it may help if you could upload a photo then we can see what your saying about the gun being used in the plasma

yes that copper that is exposed is a braid i have chased it back and it runs to the board
not to sure abouts on the board it runs to
is it ment to be like that just stopped short of the torch going nowhere
regarding fan blade i removed it to give me more room to look around

Yours is identical to my junk one, I used mine to cut 6mm but that was about the limit for a clean cut.

thats not to bad how long did yours last
i think this one as the same problem as yours that switch you mention or the gun
did have it fired up before but just cuts out
thats when i clean that switch

add it started before when i cleaned that switch
then it stopped and started just wont start again
could be gun

i cleaned the inside contacts up inside this relay switch that you mention
its on the back on left side just below on off switch

just looked at thermal cut off under transformer and its cracked
its got 2 wires on each side and its not easy to get at

also one wire runs up to pressure switch
got to go below them caps could be still carrying v
so need to tread carful
not to sure how this thermal cut offs works
can it be bypassed to check if it needs replacing

yes you can bypass them they are a simple device to break a circuit when enough heat is applied

Did someone say the linked to the pdf doesn't work?
I had a Tradescut 10, bought from ebay as non working. Really nothing wrong with it
except it needed a new torch. The bloke had tried buying bit's for the torch and everyone
said it's obsolete, and bit's to convert to another torch are hard to come by!
I put a Trafimet torch on it and it worked , all you need to fit another torch is the right fitting
for the torch to screw to, I made an adapter.
The red light should come on if you press the trigger and the air is off or low, other than that mine
worked perfectly and cut 10mm block plates clean, rusty 10mm steel was a bit of a mess but hacked
it's way through.

dont think there is a lot wrong with this plasma but will be replacing torch.

just seen one on ebay wiring looks the same
55 just the torch from china
or 85 incl cable ? just hope it is torch and it will be worth doing
when you bought your murex was it powering up put no action when trigger pressed

this one i bought powers up got presure between 60 /90 bar
switch to high press button thats on the original torch air flows out tip
fault light shows this is when i try cutting with it relise button then press again red light
shows torch live then stops working this is what i get over and over
so i think torch is faulty
