update just add a quick look at this gun and it add some black tap on the front
as you will see in pics that i put on
when i removed this tap there was a small strip of alliuminium bridgeing 2 terminials
not a very good contact , anyway give it a quick clean up put it back as it was and done my first cut
not the best but looks like it was that connection

could do with still replacing this torch soon
now i know its nothing to do with main box
anyway it was nothing to tecnical

The torch has a cover that links the two contacts you mentioned under the tape. It won't work without that on. Mine worked loose so I put a jubilee clip around it.
Consumables are unavailable as you know so get another torch if poss.
