wheel bearing failure

I drove my car 60 miles on Monday and it drove fine, no noise, everything OK. It never moved until i went to work on Wednesday, and it immediately started making the failed bearing sound, it failed while the car was parked! I had the bearings replaced not that long ago, WTF!
Is there another way/different tool to get the inner race from the stub axle? 16:35 in the vid

did they fit them correctly could have over tightened them aswell

It doesnt look like good access for cutting
When i say not that long ago, it could be about a year, but not alot of miles. I used to work close to home.
Ive still got to deal with this, so need a way of getting that race off, preferably without such an expensive puller

I remove those inner races by cutting away one side with a 1mm disc until there's just a thin bit left, then switch to a grinding disc and grind it until it starts showing blue on the full width in the middle of the grind. That will make it loose enough to lever off with a thin chisel or flat screwdriver.

Looks tight for access but I bet you could get a 4" grinder in there with a half-worn disc and no guard.

yep done them the same way thin cutting disc and no guard if all else fails a dremel can finish of the cut

That's a snazzy puller, we used to use a 1/2 cold chisel and lay it edge vertical in the stub then wallop it with a lump hammer to split the seat & insert a bit of welding rod i nthe crack to keep it open then use water pump pliers to wiggle it off . Mind it wasn't as far back in the shrouding / back plate as the one in the clip appears.

On trailers or vehicles where access is often easy I've ground the seat first to make a thin flat that chisels through easier y , grinding two flats at 3 & 9 on the clock , it made splitting & getting them off so much easier .

Thought ..... Can you use two bits of angle iron with a hole saw cut a bit bigger than the stub , weld an arm on each so you can pull the jaw you've just made onto the seat , use two bolts one to clamp and the other to push the clamp on harder ( like the old fashioned F type hand vice ) Use a slide hammer & rod on the outer bolt , see if you can get it straight and true then use the slide hammer to take it off.
If you don't have a rod use chain and a decent heavy weight instead ???

If you don't want to risk that , sometimes you can hire the tool for an afternoon from a dealers garage .

Nope, this week I did both rears on my daughter's 2009 Beetle. One slid off, the other I had to cut.

Slide a tube with a little clearance over the stub axle and a couple of weld tacks should allow the race to expand and pull off quite easily, If not you could weld a nut to the end of the tube and draw the race off, or weld a block to the outer end of the tube and hammer it off,

I know it doesnt make it any better, but someone borrowed a trailer from me once and brought it back, and when we went to tuck it away the wheel was hanging off, and it looked like that except the wheel had gone through the bearing and had grooved the stub axle.
Turned out he'd had about 2t in my borrowed 750kg trailer, friends eh? Its on light around the garden duty only now because I can't find a replacement stub axle for it and the back tube is a little curved anyway.

the reason it works on the outer race is because welds shrink/contract
