nipple sizes

ok so i broke the grease nipple on my big trolley jack its a clarke one only a few years old, i went to replace it looks like a M8 but my M8 nipple wont fit but just looking on the net there are different thread sizes so i think i need a 1mm pitch

like ur style i just ordered a box set of allsorted sizes 120 for a fiver aint bad saves mean being tight and cleanning old ones when i change ball joints and track rods on the off roader. Why is it new ball joints ect dont come with factory fitted grease nipples now days?

It might be imperial. I have a Machine mart jack and the nipple got damaged.
I thought it was metric as it was purchased in the 1990's.

It turned out to be imperial.

i did think that to start with i tried a m8 nipple i had but it only went in half a turn thats why i think it is a fine pitch m8 thread

If inspected correctly they can be quite rewarding, so I've been told

I think I remember that some are bsp? Anyhow you can buy assorted metric / imperial nipples. The whole world is not metric and I have had stuff on cheap imports were male threads supplied were not even as the female corresponding side

1/8 BSP is most likely if it isn't metric fine.

could it be 5/16 bsf a fairly common size for nipples.
do you have a bolt to try in the hole.

Dont know where you are in kent they are bases in Hove East Sussex.

I do not have any imperial bolts that my problem, a M8 fits but only get half a turn on it that's why I though it could be a M 8 fine pitch but no that is the same! The 1/8 is far to big for the hole. I am not that clued up on imperial sizes to be honest I learnt metric.

old nipple diameter is 0.305" or 7.83mm if that helps
