Those more eagle eyed will spot the two new genuine rear doors. Then four smashed doors with loads of parts. Including four nearly new door cards. The rear cards he unscrewed for a 200mile old defender and gave to me
Then the brand new genuine and fully lined alcantara head lining, I'm seriously in love. Matt at carriages in Manchester. Well worth the drive.
Anyway this was meant to be my rest day and I've done 450miles. Up at 0300 so have a good night

Hi all,

I'm going to be ordering the last two doors now to hopefully have for next weekend. I'm working tomorrow but have monday off and am going to finish my over engineered throttle pedal mount. I refuse to drill some more holes in the bulkhead so I'm making a mount to fit the bulkhead holes and fit the throttle holes on the other side .
I've got one BIG issue that has been frustrating me beyond belief, when I bought my tub I payed for my b posts which he forgot to bring. Roughly 8 weeks ago I paid for my B posts and still haven't got them. I have been hassling him all week and last week to send them. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt in that he said he sent them last week but there must be an issue as he said. once I get them I can get it all galvanized then assemble it to make sure it fits right before stripping for paint.

I'll be chasing my B posts now because it's really winding me up.

Very interesting to read all the progress. Very impressive. We have a F reg Land Rover 90. It's in pretty bad shape but I'm absolutely in love with it. (photo of it below when we were doing some repairs) We stopped fighting to get it through MOTs about 4 years ago but it's still used a lot on our farm. It starts well (providing the battery is charged) but it needs a new chassis, very rusty body work, new gearbox, etc. It's done about 100,000 miles and it's a petrol. I'm a boat builder/repair/maintenance by trade so I do a fair bit of welding, etc but this is waaay out of my comfort zone especially mechanically. My grandfather (and boss) is also a boat builder and was a mechanic and he's who has been keeping it going for so long is completely against my idea of refurb-ing it as he thinks it's a waste of time and money and is encouraging me to just buy another. I guess my question is, would you refurb or rebuy?

I'd buy another. I think it depends what the starting point was, although mine was trashed it was a td5 and isn't that old that's one reason why I've decided to do mine fully and I can make it how I want, if I had to swap the engine etc though I wouldn't have bothered. I will have a good useable defender after not saying yours won't be either but for something of that age needing by the sounds of it and equal amount of work you're better off getting something in much better condition.

If you're putting a new chassis in, then you get to choose the engine gearbox combination with a lot more ease than anyone else.

Disk braked axels are cheap whilst ever ones breaking 300tdi discos. Or just buy your own breaker disco and pull the engine, box, and axels.

Get a box rebuild to defender spec and you're away.

When I was shopping for our 110, 300tdis were more money than td5s, all other things being more or less equal.

But then you get more power etc from the td5 - but I'm sure you could buy a breaker td5 disco for not so much more cash.

Hi all,

I got my front doors and a few other bits the other day all new. New ignition with some spare barrels! And finally received my B posts! They need a bit of work though even though he said they don't. They most certainly need a bit. Not happy and would never ever recommend KDLandrover ever! 9weeks that's been now! Anyway I'm just going to fix them and get them galvanised.
I'll try fit them tomorrow to make sure they fit okay but I don't have hinges yet. I keep forgetting to call and order them! Also going to order a brand new puma bonnet I think. I prefer it to mine.

So I tried sorting my b pillars. Annoyingly I can't get them in and as I asked for advice on the forum it started raining!
Still no further forward with why it won't fit though if you can see in the close up pic, it's hitting on the welded in tube on the tub capping. I think the posts are from a td5 but my tub is a puma so I'm thinking I may end up need to slot the posts to fit past those round tubes!
If anyone's ever fitted b posts have your got any advice?

Put your door in place before you try to fit the B pillar they all seem to need individual treatment to get them to work and the doors to line through and latch properly. The rubber seals cause problems as well, they seem to want to force the doors open if they are not latching securely.

A friend of mine bought a 90 a year older than that with the rubbish turbo diesel engine. He took the body off, repainted it and repaired the chassis then put it back together and ran it but the engine was dire so he has fitted a 300tdi from a Disco and it is now a really usable motor in every sense, power, reliability and fuel consumption improved.

If you can't get the pillar in with door on think of the pain you are going to have after making the door fit. We spent all afternoon jacking the door surround into shape with 3x2 and pushers to make a driver's door fit something like, still not perfect but safe enough to go round a corner without the door flying open.

How much T-Wash/Mordont solution did you use to treat the chassis? I have just the x-member to paint.

These hinges look truly amazing!
Can't wait to get them on but I've realised it comes with everything minus the retained nuts . Also they're stainless bolts. Would you all change them out? The hinges are Ali and the chassis that it bolts to is steel??? Decisions decisions!
