decent, small, inverter Arc welder

Hi all, so I'm looking for a small inverter arc welder, wondering has anyone any suggestions.

I need an arc welder to weld 10mm plate on a household 13A supply, though im thinking but upping the amps available to me.


I was thinking like a lightweight one, but does this by definition mean a rubbish duty cycle?

Bang on Tom.Parweld will do what he wants.EWM,expensive.I suppose duty cycle could be an issue,but for home use no point in folking out for a machine that we would use full blast.In other words go for the Parweld

+1 for the parweld, cheap but a proper workhorse. Ewm undoubtedly a step up in quality but also price, if money was no object is have the ewm. It is so I've got a parweld (courtesy of @Tom Orrow L !) and I'd happily buy another if it ever went wrong.

We have EWM Machines,yes they are superb,cost more,you buy cheap you pay twice.Also the service you will get from Jim will be the best

Who manufactures the Parweld machine?My point here is,and I know I am going to get slaughtered for this,if it comes from China,so what.The Chinese products are not going to go away.If you look inside many machines available,you would be supprised at some components used,and I mean top of the range machines

This is going to bore you now.Lot`s of very high profile manufacturers made their Transformers and Inductors from Cu guess what they are now Al.Next time you buy a machine ask if the coils are Cu or Au.It makes a hell off a lot to the duty cycle

thermal ark 175 se i have ne few mates have them and work has 1, hell they've had some abuse and they are all still going strong, works one isn't quite the same shape it used to be and is held together with tek screws, tape and cabel ties after being run over but it still welds
