thermal ark 175 se i have ne few mates have them and work has 1, hell they've had some abuse and they are all still going strong, works one isn't quite the same shape it used to be and is held together with tek screws, tape and cabel ties after being run over but it still welds

You are very fortunate to have such a quality machine

the works one did get thrown in the skip, but the new inverter bought to replace it went bang so as the old thermal ark did work when it went in the skip it was pulled out, more tape and cabel ties added and it just refuses to give up

It's waaaaaaaay too expensive if you ask me. The Fronius transpocket would be a better bet
It's similar brass. Smaller lighter and unlike the Ewm it has proper cel capabilitys. I used one on site for many many years dragging it through cement dust coal dust, dropped it, kicked it and according to my ex college who I went for a drink with last night it's still going. If you want a proper stick set that will withstand anything you throw at it. Get a transpocket IMO.

The Battery technology is pretty expensive, a package would be circa £1900.
Only other comparison would be the Fronius Accupocket but this has the battery integral and is about £2300

Our system the battery is independent to the power source so it can be added at anytime in the future. Another benefit is that of one battery didn't have enough capacity for the job in hand you could double up or treble up capacity by adding additional batteries like with a battery power drill. You can't do that with an integral battery

I have run an esab buddy hard for a few years it's a good set for the money. Don't do lift tig like it says. Won't burn 4 mm proper

Got the Lorch Micor recently. Really nice smooth arc and cracking stable arc on lift tig with perfect ignition on the lift
4 mm rods? Eats them alive no issues at all. Dial numbering? Not good but when your used to a plant you don't look anyhow

13 amp you shouldn't go to 4 mm and be prepared to blow a few fuses on 3.2 mm
10 mm will pose no great issues

The buddy btw has seen hell and never failed and I haven't even blown out the innards

Not for something that's top quality. We keep one in our welding bays at work and it's got a really nice weld quality to it. Stick a 3.2MM bohler 6013 in there and it's more than a pleasure to run.

I'm staying out of this one any way. Like most buying a welder threads they are just becoming a dealers avenue to product push.

I know how hard it must be when you see someone wanting to buy something and you stock it, if I was selling machines the temptation to try for a sale would be massive.

If we did not control it we would have every stockist in the UK here filling the threads with their stock list, so control it we must, the important thing is it will be controlled fairly and no one will be exempt.

The MOD's are not here all the time and obviously may miss posts that should be acted upon, anyone is entitled to report a thread or a post that they feel is taking advantage of the rule of 'No Dealer Selling'
