How to trace a pipe

id say if finding gold was that easy we would all be at it.
and as brightspark says, were only looking for water pipes here.

divining a water pipe isnt a 100% acurate method, but its well up there.
if the two of us were in a field and we were tasked with finding a water main in it, and if we started out with nothing more than a digger each i can promise you that id have the pipe found a lot quicker than you with a divining rod, without bursting it or leaving the place looking like a mine field.

this would be a topic that would never have a unilateral agreement anyways but here is one for you to chew on.
and bearing in mind i dont go in for any of the topics you mentioned above either, id like to think id be prety full of common sense and i know my feet are on the ground,
but...

there is a lad not too far from here that has the cure for a condition in animals commonly known as red water, its a form of internal bleeding that an animal will take from a tick bite.
if left unattended it will kill the animal, thats a given.

back when there werent too many injections for the symptom folk relied on this man's mother for the cure of it, she has since passed away but has handed it down to the son.
now this isnt 50 yrs ago im on about, it still goes on today but not as much seeing since the vets caught up in medicine but if you want the cure all you have to do is ring him.
he will ask random questions about the animal, like what colour it is, how old it is, where it is and so on.
then they might tell you to leave it where it is, give it meal or put it in but there wont be any other thing involved bar the phone call.
and as long as the condition is caught inside the time where either the cure or the medicine can save the animal then with the cure alone the animal will live and the condition cure.

thats pretty much the way that goes down, there is nothing more to it other than if you dont "believe" in it it wont work.
id be just as skeptical as you are about it right now, and bear in mind i dont go for any of the stuff you talked about, but i believe in the cure for ive seen first hand the results of it.

there is a lot of people with different cure abilities throughout this country for many ailments.

i have no need to go that far, again, we are on about tracing water pipes and not finding everlasting water holes or anything else.

we dont have to agree on if you think it works or not, you keep doing what you do and ill keep doing what i find works and everyone's happy.

Hey guys

I think we're all getting a bit carried away and maybe a touch emotional about the whole thing. All the natural/super natural things may or may not work.

My situation is I have an empty blue pipe that's visible only at one end, it will be Usfull to find the other end to have controlled water far from the house.

If I wanted non technical and non engineering help I would have found a psychic forum (if they hadn't found me first)

its just a genuine clash of opinions parm and i dont think anyone was getting hateful, after all this is an internet forum so nobody should take it too seriously.
if i have an opinion its only my opinion, we cant all have the same opinion on everything, it id be a bit dull if it was that way.

anyways, as for your pipe, i dont think there is anything left out re suggestions, if you had answers we wouldn't be whittling away the hours with this chat...

Few years ago I fitted a tap by the kennels for sis in-law and it worked fine she has good waterpressure ( and the mains arnt to bad either !!) but slowly the flow slowed up to just a trickle over about a year, I said oh it'll be the frost needs a new bib so took off the old one checked it, nothing wrong with it. Looked in the pipe and what looked like thick dog hair in the pipe,??? how could the dog hair get back up the tap?, cleaned it out replaced the tap and it worked but not great.
So I disconnected the pipe and she turned on the gate valve in the house whilst I stood and watched, it was slow slow slow, then BANG and something shot up in the air, I managed to catch it it was the handle of a 1/2" paint brush that we had been using to clean up and could 'nt find after drilling the hole through into the house, Michael the 6yr old nephew we think, had thought oh that fits well in there.!! it must have slowly disintegrated over the year, that was the thick dog hair !! then handle had softened and swelled up to virtually the size of the pipe. HEHE.

I'm fairly sure my missing brand new stainless steel garden trowel is under my early Rhubarb plant.. but it grows so well I'm not going to try to find out :-)

We had one my dad planted it, it was as sweet as sugar its'self and it followed us from house to house amazing plant for re growing just dug it up and throw it in the ground and in a few mths it was active again.

if the hidden end isn't capped air can work very well, just jam enough of it down there and you'll hear it if you cant borrow a road compressor

a nasty trick is propane, stuff a load of that down there and you'll smell the hidden end, matches can be used at the end for inproved accuracy

it's a lot less risky than my other idea,

that was to order a chemical your proably not allowed off ebay and use ti to make a well known very unstable liquid, pour said chemical into pipe untill full and encorage it to do what it dose best.

then you'll almost instantly know where the pipe was and what was at the end of it but at least you'll have a ready dug trench to relay a new pipe in
