Rigid hydraulic pipes

I'm sure I saw a thread a while ago , showing some kind of machine possibly a boat carrier/ crane type thing ?
The op had fabricated it and had a load of bent steel hydraulic pipes fitted to it .
Could do with a short piece of hydraulic pipe with a 180degree bend in it making up . If anyone remembers the thread or name of the poster , thanks Mike

Any agricultural machinery engineers or hydraulics place will do that for you, probably for not much cash in hand if you go round the back instead of the front desk.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that companies advertise themselves as hydraulic engineers when they're nothing of the kind; making up pipes like this used to be part and parcel of this work area. Everyone has become lazy with the advent of cheap swaging equipment and don't want to spend the time measuring and making up the proper pipes, just fling some flexible hose at it to get it back out the door again.

Got to say we do a lot of hydraulic hoses but any of the steel hydraulic pipes that need replacing they are ordered in from Sweden.

doing steel pipework nicely i actualy like doing, problem is pipeing things up is usally one of the later operations when everything has decended into a mad rush

As you're modifying new machines getting that kind of thing from the manufacturer is presumably needed to keep the warranty?

No it's usually the second hand ones that are for sale or machines that are getting refurbished. I can replace hydraulic hose no problem used to completely replace every hose on car transporters when doing refurbs. Not one single steel pipe on them! Doing something like Nicky has done that's well out of my league.

Cheers Nickyeng , ill be in touch it's on a walking floor trailer , my mate who also uses it got the hyraulic pipes from the tractor unit snagged on something and kinked the rigid pipe . The chimps in our workshop replaced it with a flexi pipe and 2 p clips . Trying to plug the quick release connects is a pain plus the hose is too long
That cost £60 for the hose , I bet a replacement rigid pipe costs less than that from the dealer .

I will measure up when I get a chance and pm u for a price

youd be surprised, its not a service thats offered randomly about here anyways, the closets place i would be able to get hyd pipe bent would be 40 mls from me and the other crowd that could do it would be as far the other way but even at that i wouldnt like to be landing with too fancy a sketch of my pipework either.
i have my own hyd tube benders here for that reason.

id agree.
i have an old toyota forklift here with its original manual and in it it describes how to service the alternator, the starter, the engine, and everything else thats considered throw away gear now a days.
it even has quite a lot of stainless bolts in it.
long be the days.....

we now seem to live in a throw away society, which is something i dont agree with 90% of the time.

Lots of folk in the glasgow area here do the flexible pipes but few are skilled pipe fitters to a level where they can rigidedably pipe a machine using multiple complex bends as I have achieved. Not saying I am brilliant or anything only that it requires a special skill set and commitment above and beyond. I am time served marine engineer and pipe fitter so it just happens to be my forte....

Pirtek used to do them, at least my local one did, but that was a few years back now (haven't used them for some time so things could well have changed). Worth seeing if there's one nearby though.

If you need quick release couplers to be held fixed why not use a bulkhead fitting and attach a simple bracket to hold it secure? Might be easier than trying to sort out steel pipes.
