I hate VM with a passion for their customer service but their BB in my area has always been stable and BT while cheaper can only offer me UP TO 8Mb, plus my lad likes his gaming so we are on the top package.

I think every one has a tale to tell about an isp, so far for me virgin has been flawless, much better than the previous orange mob, who managed to make me see red, yet my mother swears by them and has had superb service, nextdoor has talktalk and was without internet or phone for a month, house opposite full of praise for them.
Customer service seems to be like a lottery.

I have bt infinity 2 and im getting 50mb !! a lot of the issues are to do with the state of the wiring in the house you must have a bt socket with the spilt across it or it will always be poor

been with virgin quite a few years now, had a bust up with bt over there service charges as they was quoting i was over the bandwidth of downloads yet i was paying for the best service from them

just one main problem too far away from the exchange i could only get 500mb they quoted i was getting 2gb per second mind you in end up i proved it as i had the faults team in often as lost signal more times than not but they refused to except it so that was it dropped to lowest package and moved to blueyonder at the time had no issues at all until i moved houses great service

cable has got worse with its service bit of advice go straight to disconnections if your having trouble always get uk people there and there better service to deal with

pc been on all day long so not a fresh boot up

If you are still on copper wires, and have low speed connection, changing provider isnt likely to change things an awful lot.

Like my fab rural broadband. About half a meg upload or nothing at all for periods
It's broken so much I know all the guys from openreach and o. First name terms with the supervisor with his mobile number
Can't get BT to fix it proper as that's a different budget for infrastructure - repairs ain't a problem though they have spent at least 4 times the cost of a proper repair on patch up jobs
It really annoys me when politicians make promises about speed and all British homes yet fail totally to take real action
There is a lot of buisness done in rural communities

ive been with virgin since it was Telewest.
ever service has its ups and downs.
same with everything, cars ,machines etc.
nothing runs forever and will breakdown,..
one time they had all the servers stolen and lots of UBR's smashed up
in the Basildon building.
so had no BB for 36hrs, but was given dial up to use ARGGGGGGG.....

Virgins customer service ****** me off every time, took me over a year to get a dicky hub fixed. Thankfully when it's working, it's awesome, bear in mind I have 2 other machines running at the minute and browsing the web, I still get this:

If I switch the others off it'll peg 210.

Try changing the filter that plugs into your phone socket. They go t*ts up from time to time. It's been the cause of slow broadband a couple of times for me. When I've contacted my broadband provider for support, that's one of the first things they ask me to do.

My speed isn't much better than yours ... maybe just over 2Mbs download ... but then again the last mile of so of my phone line is made up of skipping ropes and squirrel farts.

My wi-fi was dire.. .... I kept telling virgin it was the superhub but they never listened.

Finally managed to get one sent out and these are the speeds on my phone.
