So. Finally I have a project of my own. Roadgoing running restoration. The plan is to run him through the summer and do the resto during the winter. He looks on face value very nice, I believe, having done a little more in depth inspection already that its had a major pro restoration sometime in its life but also more recently had a few more "budget repairs"? The guy I bought it from was an enthusiast and I genuinely believe it was a reluctant sale due to a baby!! It was Regatta Blue from birth and into original resto but when he bought it, the agreement was its has to be black not 'smurf blue'. He was not get your hands dirty merchant so anything that went wrong went to his local garage. Interior is probably original and very faded and its had a recent new roof which was only part finished due to the fact all the self tappers holding the back of the roof to the rear tub rusted and broke.
The first job is to sort the roof and I think for peace of mind with regard to the chassis and overall integrity of the shell I will do both outer sills as there is a fair amount of body filler in all the lower panels. I will finish this winter with an interior replacement then run it and see what rust appears rather than re skinning doors and replacing wings too soon.
